Fifteen girl cadets from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana took part in the Republic Day marchpast at Kartavya path. A total of 42 boys and 8 girl cadets from AP and TS NCC directorate participated in the PM’s rally. These cadets underwent training at the sub-unit and unit level starting from September last year. After rigorous training and selection processes, 128 cadets were chosen from the three NCC wings of both states to represent the directorate in RD Camp-2024.
The camp was a life-changing experience for the cadets, who have returned with cherished memories. The RD NCC contingent, consisting of one officer, 128 cadets, and ten support staff, arrived in Secunderabad after successfully completing a 30-day camp in Delhi.
During the camp, cadets from all 28 states participated and competed in various events such as drill, group dance, group song, national integration awareness program, best cadet category, aero modeling, equestrian, and flag area.
Sgt M Srisanth and Cdt Nagandla Dheeraj were recognized as the best cadets in the JD/JW Army and Navy categories, respectively. They were presented with the best cadet medal and the coveted baton by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the PM Rally on January 27 at Cariappa Parade Ground.
SUO Akanksha Bhosle secured second place in the best cadet SW army wing category, Cdt T Divya Lakshmi stood third in the best cadet SW navy wing category, and CSUO B Tharun Teja stood third in the best cadet SD air wing category. SUO D Sai Kiran, JUO R Elavarasan, and SUO K Sowmya Sree were awarded the DG NCC Medallion for their outstanding performance during the camp.
The cadets from the directorate also excelled in cultural competitions, winning first place in group song and third place in NIAP. In equestrian events, the cadet’s team secured three gold, four silver, and three bronze medals in various categories. Cadet Shaik Rehana was crowned the show jumping champion of the day.
The camp, which began on December 30, 2023, saw the participation of 2,274 cadets from all over the country. It was visited by important dignitaries such as the Defense Minister, Minister of State, Defense Secretary, Chief of Defense Staff, chiefs of the three services, and the Chief Minister of Delhi. The camp concluded with a visit from the Prime Minister.
