Hyderabad: The state government will soon issue new Family Digital Cards where women will be named as the head of the family. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has instructed officials to list women as the heads, with other family members mentioned on the back of the card. A survey will begin in selected villages and urban areas on October 3 to test this new system.

In rural areas, RDO rank officers will be in charge of the survey, while Municipal Zonal Commissioner rank officials will handle the urban areas. The Chief Minister has stressed that the field inspections must be thorough and accurate to avoid any mistakes. He also asked officials to study how other states have implemented their digital family cards and learn from both their successes and mistakes.

A team of officials recently visited states like Rajasthan, Haryana, Karnataka, and Maharashtra to study their digital card systems. They gave a PowerPoint presentation on Saturday, explaining the different designs used, as well as the pros and cons of each state’s approach.

After reviewing the information, the Chief Minister advised stopping the collection of unnecessary details, such as bank accounts and PAN cards. He suggested that families be identified using existing data from ration cards, Rajiv Arogyasri, IT, agriculture, and other welfare schemes.
