Gadwal: The Priyadarshini Jurala Project dam is experiencing heavy water inflow due to early monsoon rains upstream. On July 1, 2025, at 6:00 PM, the dam’s water level reached 317.470 meters (1,041.568 feet).
The dam currently contains 7.590 TMC of total water and 3.883 TMC of live storage, while its full reservoir capacity is 318.516 meters (9.657 TMC).
The reservoir receives 87,000 cusecs of water. Authorities have released 60,075 cusecs through the spillway, operating 9 gates. The power house discharges 30,722 cusecs, aiding electricity production and controlled water release.
Some water is drawn for lift irrigation and canals:
- Bhima Lift-I used 650 cusecs.
- Koilsagar Lift took 315 cusecs.
- The Left Main Canal (LMC) and Right Main Canal (RMC) used 550 and 280 cusecs respectively, with 150 cusecs through the RDS link canal.
No water was drawn for Nettampadu Lift, Bhima Lift-II, or the parallel canal.
The total project outflow is 92,985 cusecs, including evaporation losses of 43 cusecs.
Officials are watching the reservoir levels and weather forecasts closely to manage water releases safely, especially for downstream areas. People in low-lying regions should stay vigilant.
The district administration and irrigation department have implemented safety measures and are working with power and revenue departments for ongoing monitoring and response.
