Gadwal: On the evening of June 14, 2025, the Priyadarshini Jurala Project (PJP) Dam in Jogulamba Gadwal district reported a notable rise in water levels, leading to active power generation and substantial inflows.

The current data shows the water level at 317.190 meters (or 1,040.650 feet), with a gross storage capacity of 7.060 TMC and live storage of 3.353 TMC. The Full Reservoir Level is 318.516 meters (or 1,045 feet), holding up to 9.657 TMC.

The reservoir is receiving 15,000 cusecs of inflow, while the total outflow has reached 36,656 cusecs. Most of this outflow, 34,772 cusecs, is directed to the power house for electricity generation. Minor evaporation loss accounts for 69 cusecs. The Nettampadu Lift Irrigation Scheme uses 1,500 cusecs, and the Koilsagar Lift Irrigation Scheme takes 315 cusecs.

No water has been released through spillway gates or other canals, including the Bhima Lift-I & II, Left and Right Main Canals, and RDS Link & Parallel Canals.

The dam’s power house is working efficiently, with evaporation loss kept low. Due to upstream rains, the inflow has increased to 15,000 cusecs, but the reservoir still has capacity before reaching its maximum level.

Officials are monitoring the dam closely and have implemented safety measures for managing incoming water. The irrigation needs downstream are being satisfied mainly by lift irrigation schemes, with no current releases through traditional canals.

Residents near the river are urged to stay alert and follow guidance from authorities as weather conditions may change.
