Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force, South Zone team, along with Chandrayangutta police, arrested a group of ten people. This group included six women, and they were trying to sell a newborn baby illegally. The police successfully rescued the 15-day-old baby boy and handed him over to the Child Welfare Centre to ensure his safety.
The people arrested were identified as Shaik Ismail, Sulthana Begum, Mehdi Ali (also known as Saleem), Fathima Rehamth, Syed Imtiaz Pasha, Nazma Begum, Feroz Khan, Nafeez Begum, Sayeeda Begum, and Sayeeda Shaik, who acted as a mediator in the case.
The Chandrayangutta police registered a case under Sections 80 and 81 of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, and began investigating the matter.
The police revealed that the main accused, Mehdi Ali, came up with a plan to sell newborn babies to couples who could not have children. He approached the baby’s parents, Shaik Ismail and Sulthana Begum, and encouraged them to sell their newborn baby boy for Rs 2.50 lakh. The parents were in a financial crisis, and Mehdi Ali convinced them that selling the baby would help solve their money problems.
