The Delhi Police says they didn’t mistreat former Delhi minister Manish Sisodia when he was at the Rouse Avenue Court. This comes after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal shared a video showing police surrounding Sisodia while journalists asked him about the Delhi ordinance. The police explained that it’s illegal for an accused person to speak to the media while in custody. Kejriwal had shared the video, originally posted by Delhi minister Atishi, and questioned whether the police had been ordered to treat Sisodia that way.

When Sisodia was brought before the court, reporters approached him and asked him about the legislation that gave the LG control over the elected government. The police response in the video was necessary for security reasons. On Tuesday, Sisodia was taken before a judge who extended his legal detention until June 1. The judge also suggested giving Sisodia a chair, table, and some literature in jail.
