Hyderabad: Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy announced that he will visit three mandals where the new Bhu Bharati project is being tested. If the pilot project is successful, the system will be expanded to cover all of Telangana by June 2.
Speaking informally with the media on Sunday at the Secretariat, the Revenue Minister said that the goal of the Bhu Bharati Act and its online portal is to protect all lands in the state. He described the Act as a kind of public vote of confidence in the government. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is expected to officially launch the Bhu Bharati Act and portal on Monday, to mark the 134th birth anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.
Ponguleti also reminded everyone that the Congress government plans to treat the success of the Bhu Bharati Act as a key issue in the 2029 Legislative Assembly elections. He stressed that the government is fully committed to this promise.
The Minister said a forensic investigation will be conducted into past land irregularities under the older Dharani system, once Bhu Bharati is in place. He asked people not to rush to the new portal to check land records right away, as too much traffic could crash the system. He also warned that anyone trying to intentionally disrupt the portal could face police action, as ordered by the Chief Minister.
Ponguleti added that the Bhu Bharati portal is being developed by the Central Government’s National Informatics Centre (NIC) and will include modern features. He assured that the development process will not interfere with current land registrations. The Minister also said he and other officials will visit the villages selected for the pilot project, and awareness programs will be organized with help from District Collectors.
