Valigonda (Yadadri-Bhongir): Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy strongly criticized the previous government’s land policies during a speech in Yadadri on Tuesday. He especially targeted the Dharani portal, calling it a law created by a few people behind closed doors for their own benefit, not for the good of the public.
The minister said that laws should help people, not make their lives harder. He explained that the Dharani system had serious problems, including stopping land registrations completely for almost 100 days after it was launched.
In contrast, he praised the new Bhu Bharati Act, saying it was developed with input from all concerned parties. He described it as a people-friendly law created through teamwork and shared ideas.
Reddy also accused supporters of the previous government of trying to block the new law in the Assembly. He said they acted “like demons” when the Bhu Bharati Act was introduced. According to him, the old policies were based only on the wishes of the top leaders, without following true democratic procedures.
As part of the new changes, the minister announced a pilot project starting on May 1. It will begin in one mandal in each of Telangana’s 28 districts to try out the Bhu Bharati Act.
He also announced that land pattas (ownership documents) will be given to the landless poor under the Indiramma housing scheme.
Sending a clear warning, Reddy said government officials who misuse their power will face strict action. The meeting was attended by Yadadri-Bhongir district collector Hanumanth Rao, Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, Bhongir MLA Kumbham Anil Kumar Reddy, and others.
