Hyderabad’s Nehru Zoological Park saw a massive crowd on Sunday, attracting nearly 24,000 visitors in one day.
The large turnout was mainly due to the summer holidays and the pleasant weather. Families, tourists, and wildlife enthusiasts chose the zoo as a perfect spot for their day out.
Zoo officials were well-prepared for the rush. They increased the number of security personnel, set up extra ticket counters, added more battery-powered vehicles, and ensured plenty of drinking water stations.
Although visitors faced some waiting due to the crowd, the staff managed the situation efficiently with quick reinforcements.
Dr. Sunil S Hiremath, the zoo’s director, thanked the public for their overwhelming response. He appreciated their interest in visiting the zoo and supporting wildlife conservation.
Nehru Zoological Park is home to over 194 species of animals. It holds the distinction of being the first zoo in India to display animals in a zoological order within open enclosures. These enclosures are designed to resemble natural habitats, helping animals feel more comfortable.
Animals are displayed using either open moats or cages, depending on the species. To engage the crowd, the zoo arranged special animal talk shows and reptile awareness sessions throughout the day. These programs aim to educate visitors about the importance of wildlife conservation and protecting natural habitats.
The zoo is also promoting the World Environment Day theme, “End Plastic Pollution“. Staff and volunteers are encouraging visitors to reduce plastic use and help make the zoo a plastic-free zone.
With its strong focus on education, environmental awareness, and sustainable tourism, Nehru Zoological Park continues to be a favorite destination for nature and animal lovers in Hyderabad.
