Hyderabad: As the Jubilee Hills by-election approaches, local communities and Residential Welfare Associations (RWAs) are uniting to voice their concerns. They demand that all political candidates address their civic issues.

In this election, with 58 candidates competing, the Forum, RWAs, and civic activists emphasize their neighborhood problems hoping the elected MLA will prioritize them.

Their complaints include poor roads, inadequate drainage, mosquito problems, traffic congestion, lack of footpaths, and polluted lakes. They also stress issues like water pollution, sanitation, water body encroachment, and the need for open drain improvement.

Asif Hussain Sohail, President of the Jubilee Hills Constituency Colonies Forum, stated that they have compiled a list of issues from different wards. “Residents will collectively decide on solutions after discussions, urging candidates for support.”

The Forum, representing over 300 colonies, welfare associations, and committees, has secured government approval for various civic and park projects. “Proper planning and society’s involvement are essential to tackle these rising issues,” noted Asif Hussain.

Residents highlighted road conditions as a major issue. “We expect the elected representative to address these. Narrow lanes cause parking issues, and drainage is inadequate. Waste management and road debris are problematic,” said Srikanth, a Yousufguda resident.

Meherunnisa from Virat Nagar, also a Forum member, mentioned the persistent issue of open nalas for two decades. “During rains, several lanes flood. While some issues are resolved, we plan to list remaining problems to candidates seeking votes,” she added.

Another member, Vinod Reddy from Erragadda, pointed out contaminated water and garbage issues. “Though we have electricity and clean water, roads are riddled with potholes.”

Ravi Yadav from Shaikpet and a Forum member said, “Main roads are okay, but inner lanes are terrible, making navigation tough.”
