Telangana's Minister for Panchayati Raj and Rural Development, Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka), has set a deadline for the construction of new Indira Mahila Shakti Bhavans across various districts. These buildings need to be ready by November this year.
On Monday, Minister Seethakka and C.S. Ramakrishna Rao conducted a video conference from Hyderabad with district collectors. They reviewed the progress of the Badi Bata (School Enrollment Drive) and Indira Mahila Shakti initiatives.
Minister Seethakka mentioned that the Chief Minister laid the foundation stones for the Indira Mahila Shakti Bhavans last November, but many districts are lagging behind. She urged engineers from the Panchayati Raj department to collaborate efficiently and complete the construction on time.
She praised the quick stitching of school uniforms by women’s self-help groups for government school children. Seethakka emphasized distributing these uniforms and textbooks in a celebratory atmosphere when schools reopen on June 12.
Seethakka also stressed the importance of maintaining cleanliness around schools. She instructed officials to remove wild shrubs and prevent rainwater stagnation to ensure a hygienic environment.
Under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's leadership, the government aims to empower one crore women to achieve financial independence. As part of this, women’s groups are setting up petrol pumps. Suitable locations for these pumps, which can benefit at least 10 families each, need to be identified.
Additionally, plans include establishing rice mills, solar power plants, and rental buses for RTC managed by women’s groups. Seethakka highlighted the need to form new women’s groups, especially in rural and tribal areas, and to raise awareness in impoverished regions.
Seethakka urged collectors to speed up the establishment of solar power units through women’s groups, showing the government’s dedication to sustainable development and women’s empowerment.
Jogulamba Gadwal District Collector B.M. Santhosh reported that out of 52,000 required school uniforms, 42,000 are ready for distribution. The remaining 10,000 will be completed soon to ensure availability by June 12.
Regarding the Indira Mahila Shakti Bhavan construction, the Collector stated the project has reached the basement level and will finish by November.
Two sites for petrol pumps managed by women’s groups have been identified. A final location will be chosen soon, and construction will follow.
As part of the Badi Bata campaign, door-to-door awareness is being conducted to boost enrollment in government schools. Information about facilities like AI tools, digital classrooms, and improved infrastructure is being shared to increase admissions and trust in the government school system.
Additional District Collector Narsinga Rao, District Welfare Officer Sunanda, and other officials from various departments attended the conference.
