**Hyderabad:** State Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari has urged district authorities to quickly identify suitable lands for the establishment of Integrated Residential Schools in every Assembly Constituency in the State.
The Chief Secretary held a meeting with officials from various welfare departments. She reviewed the steps needed to identify lands and other infrastructure for setting up these residential welfare schools.
Santhi Kumari emphasized that the schools should have proper infrastructure as envisioned by the Chief Minister. This includes spacious classrooms, play areas, and a special room for parents to meet their children. She also mentioned that a uniform design for all buildings should be prepared within a week.
To ensure progress, Santhi Kumari announced the formation of a committee led by the advisor to the government on infrastructure. The Principal Secretary of the Social Welfare department will act as the nodal officer and will work with secretaries from other welfare departments.
Officials informed the Chief Secretary that proposals for 49 residential welfare schools are ready. Out of these, eight schools are set to begin construction this year. District collectors have already identified land for 31 schools, and the search is ongoing for the remaining 10 schools.
The meeting was attended by Advisor to Government Srinivas Raju, Principal Secretary Revenue Navin Mittal, Principal Secretary SC Development Sridhar, TSWREIS Secretary Alugu Varshini, Commissioner Minority Welfare Tafseer Iqbal, and other officials.
