Police Arrest Eight for Ganja Sale and Consumption in Hyderabad
Hyderabad police have arrested eight people involved in selling and consuming ganja near Ganapathi Complex in Srinagar Colony. The Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force West Zone Team, along with Jubilee Hills Police, conducted the operation and seized two kilograms of ganja from them.
Among those arrested are two main peddlers, Adunuri Shivaji and Kakithapalli Hemasundara Nagaraju, along with sub-peddlers Gade Sai Tejashwara Reddy, Garlapati Hema Vamsi, and Palakurthi Srikanth. The police also arrested three consumers: M Jahangir, Kunchala Uday Venkat, and Doma Rakesh.
According to the police, the Task Force team raided a flat in Ganapathi Complex and caught five of the accused in the act of packing dry ganja into small packets for sale. The other three were waiting to purchase the drugs. The accused had been operating this illegal trade for several years. Shivaji and Nagaraju reportedly procured the drugs from Amjad, a supplier from Rajendra Nagar Chowk, Parli, Maharashtra.
The arrested individuals and the seized ganja have been handed over to the concerned authorities for further legal action. The police have warned that anyone involved in drug peddling, consumption, or support of such activities will face strict legal consequences.
The authorities emphasized that drug trafficking is a serious crime that harms not only those directly involved but also affects families and the future of young people. Strict punishments, including long-term imprisonment and heavy fines, will be imposed on offenders.
