Hyderabad: The Teachers’ Union Struggle Committee (USPC) plans a large protest at Dharna Chowk in Hyderabad on August 23. They demand quick solutions to ongoing problems in education and for teachers. This announcement happened at the TSUTF office when USPC leaders presented a poster of their demands.
USPC leaders voiced concerns about the government’s lack of action. They pointed out that 20 months have passed since the government was formed, yet important promises from the election manifesto remain unmet.
They stressed the need for appointing DEO posts in new districts, Deputy EOs in each revenue division, and MEOs in new mandals. They also urged for unified service rules for teachers and the quick filling of job vacancies.
Key demands include releasing pending bills for teachers and pensioners, approving 5,571 PSHM posts in primary schools, and providing promotion opportunities for SGTs with D.Ed. and B.Ed. qualifications. Leaders asked to cancel old GOs (2, 3, 9, 10) and implement GOs 11 and 12 for fair promotions after upgrading Pandit and PET posts. Other demands involve revising teacher adjustment guidelines, ending cross-district deputations, updating the Gurukul timetable, and resolving issues for KGBV, model school, tribal welfare, and aided teachers.
Despite reaching out to the government and forming committees with officials and ministers, no progress has been made, according to USPC leaders. They submitted memorandums to the Chief Minister through Mandal Tehsildars from July 23 to 25 and held district-level protests on August 5. With no response, they now plan to intensify their efforts.
The Mahadharna aims to highlight these urgent issues and push the government to act. Leaders like Chava Ravi, A Venkat (TSUTF), N Tirupati (TPTF), M Somaiya, T Lingareddy (DTF), Kommu Ramesh (BTF), S Harikishan (TTA), Y Vijayakumar (SCSTUS), P Manik Reddy, and A Simhachalam participated and called for unity among educators statewide.
