Telangana is set to conduct municipal elections across the state with polling scheduled for February 11 and counting of votes on February 13. The elections will cover 123 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), including 116 Municipalities and 7 Municipal Corporations, marking a significant electoral exercise in the state’s urban governance.

A total of 52.43 lakh voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in these municipal elections. The voter demographics show 25.62 lakh male voters, 26.80 lakh female voters, and 640 voters registered under the ‘Others’ category. The election commission has made comprehensive arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of polling across all urban local bodies.

The electoral process will cover 2,996 wards across the state, with authorities setting up 8,203 polling stations to facilitate voting. To manage the electoral process efficiently, 16,031 ballot boxes have been arranged. These arrangements reflect the scale and complexity of conducting municipal elections across multiple urban centers simultaneously.

The reservation of wards has been implemented according to constitutional provisions and state policies. Out of the total wards, 1,511 wards have been designated as Unreserved (UR) category, while 854 wards are reserved for Backward Classes (BC). Additionally, 444 wards are reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC) and 187 wards for Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates.
