Chennur MLA's Dedication to Social Service
Hyderabad: Dr. Gaddam Vivek Venkatswamy, the MLA from Chennur, has a history of service as a former adviser to the State government and as an MP for the Peddapalli constituency from 2009 to 2014. His efforts were crucial in advocating for Telangana's statehood.
An MBBS graduate from Osmania Medical College, he is the youngest son of the late politician G Venkatswamy, known as Kaka. Representing the Mala community, he is also the father of Vamshi Krishna, the current Peddapalli MP. Venkatswamy contributed to the Coal and Steel Committees and, under Mallikarjun Kharge's leadership, helped the Congress succeed in Telangana after rejoining from the BJP in 2023.
His Visaka Charitable Trust has distributed over Rs 100 crore for social welfare, building water borewells, schools, and supporting women’s entrepreneurship in Telangana‘s underdeveloped regions. He owns V6 News Channel, founded during the Telangana statehood movement to highlight the region’s issues, and also started Velugu News Daily in 2018, a popular local newspaper.
Makthal's First-Time MLA Becomes Minister
Hyderabad: A newcomer in the political arena, the MLA from Makthal, represents the fishermen community.
A graduate, Vakiti Srihari previously served as the DCC president of Narayanpet District and has been with the Congress for almost three decades. As a former Makthal gram panchayat Sarpanch, he gained recognition by winning the highest majority in Mahabubnagar district in 2001, serving until 2006. His leadership roles included being the district congress party vice president during the same period.
The Journey of a Student Leader
Hyderabad: Adluri Laxman Kumar, representing Dharmapuri, comes from the Madiga community and began his political journey as an NSUI leader.
He surprised many in his party by becoming Government Whip after defeating Koppula Eshwar in the 2023 Assembly polls. Starting in the early 1980s as an NSUI leader in Godavarikhani, he advanced to become the General Secretary of the District Youth Congress Committee in the former Karimnagar district and later held a state-level position. After several electoral defeats, he finally won the 2023 polls with a 22,000-vote majority.
