    State Agriculture, Marketing, and Textile Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao announced the successful trial run of a pump house in Biji Kothur, Ashwapuram mandal. During the trial run, 1500 cusecs of water was released through the pump house. The main canal works have been completed to supply water through 4 pumps in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, covering a distance of 104 km.

    The canal will be connected to the Nagarjunasagar canal at Enkur, benefiting 1.20 lakh acres in Khammam district with irrigation water in the first phase. The Sitarama upliftment scheme will be completed in phases over the next three years, ultimately irrigating 6.74 lakh acres in Khammam, Bhadradri Kothagudem, and Mahabubabad districts.

    The Minister expressed his satisfaction with the trial run’s success and emphasized the importance of providing irrigation water to a large area. Irrigation Department Chief Engineer Srinivas Reddy, along with other officials, participated in the program to mark this milestone in water supply infrastructure development.
