Two Additional SP rank officials in Hyderabad have been suspended by the State Government for their alleged involvement in an illegal phone tapping case. The suspended officials are Additional DCP Thirupathanna and Additional Superintendent of Police N Bhujanga Rao.
Thirupathanna and Bhujanga Rao previously worked in the Special Intelligence Bureau (SIB) and Intelligence Department, respectively. They are accused of colluding with suspended DSP D Praneeth Rao, who was arrested for erasing intelligence information from electronic devices and illegal phone tapping during the previous BRS regime.
During questioning, the two officials confessed to their involvement in monitoring private individuals illegally, developing profiles, destroying evidence, and colluding with Praneeth Rao and others. Police officials stated that the officials abused their official positions to commit these crimes.
The suspension of Thirupathanna and Bhujanga Rao comes after their recent arrests in connection with the illegal phone tapping case. They are now suspended from their services as Additional SP rank officials.
