Hyderabad – Prof. Chennupati Jagadish, a top scientist at the University of Hyderabad (UoH), has received one of the world’s highest scientific honors. On Friday, he was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS) in the United Kingdom.
This prestigious title is given to scientists who have made groundbreaking advances in their fields. Prof. Jagadish earned this recognition for his cutting-edge work in optoelectronics, especially in developing advanced LEDs, lasers, and nano devices.
His research has had a major impact worldwide. He has published over 800 scientific papers, and his work has been cited close to 38,000 times by researchers globally.
At UoH, Prof. Jagadish holds the position of Institution of Eminence Chair Professor. He plays a key role in mentoring young researchers and faculty. He helps them develop innovative projects in areas like nanotechnology and semiconductor science.
Prof. BJ Rao, the Vice-Chancellor of UoH, praised him for his outstanding service to science and society. He called Prof. Jagadish’s achievements “unique and inspiring.”
