Mahabubnagar is facing a serious urea shortage, causing panic among farmers. In villages like Kaverammapeta in Jadcherla mandal, farmers are queuing up early to get fertilizer. The demand is high during this peak farming season, but most government and private shops are showing ‘No Stock’ signs. Only a few centers have limited urea, with a strict limit of two bags per farmer, checked through Aadhaar cards.
Farmers are unhappy with this rule. “Two bags work for 1–2 acres, but not for larger farms,” said Ramesh from Nagaram village. The restriction seems unfair to many.
Many farmers express their frustration. They spend long hours in lines and often return without enough fertilizer. “We can’t afford to lose time like this,” said Srinu from Bandamidipally village. He urges the government to solve the issue quickly, warning that without timely urea, crops will suffer.
Local agriculture officials admit the shortage is due to shipment delays and unexpected demand from increased farming. They promise more urea will arrive soon.
For farmers across Mahabubnagar, every day without urea is critical. Timely urea application is crucial for a good harvest.
