Gadwal: Accurate data collection is crucial for making effective government policies, said Chief Planning Officer Yoganand. He urged officials to gather information thoroughly and without bias.
Yoganand spoke at a training event on Saturday at the IDOC Video Conference Hall. The session was part of the 7th Minor Water Resources Census and the 2nd Water Bodies Census for the 2023–2024 agricultural year.
He stressed the importance of these censuses. Gathering data on groundwater, surface water, ponds, tanks, check dams, and dug wells helps understand rural water security. For the first time, the 2023–24 census will use a Mobile App to record data, making the process paperless and using Local Government Directory (LGD) codes for each village.
Yoganand mentioned that the Groundwater Department will help with the dug wells census. The Irrigation Department will oversee the survey of medium and major irrigation sources. Officials received training on filling schedules, technical guidelines, data accuracy, and timely reporting for a smooth process.
Officials from the District Irrigation and Groundwater Departments attended, providing key instructions and advice. Training aimed to give participants a clear understanding of their roles in the census.
The Chief Planning Officer and other officials stressed the need for high-quality, accurate data collection.
Attendees included planning and statistical officers from all mandals, sub-statistical officers, and other field workers.
This effort is expected to enhance understanding of local water resources, aiding in water security and sustainable irrigation planning in rural Telangana.
