Damercherla (Nalgonda): Authorities have stopped a major attempt to smuggle rice from Andhra Pradesh into Telangana. The incident took place at the Vadapalli border check post in Damercherla mandal, located in Nalgonda district.
During the operation, officials seized about 2,200 bags of paddy. They also held seven lorries that were carrying the grain illegally. The rice was being brought into Telangana to take advantage of the state government's bonus offered to local farmers.
Investigators found that several agents were behind this act. Their goal was to sell Andhra rice in Telangana by bypassing the rules and making extra profit.
DSP Rajasekhar Raj addressed the media at the Rural Police Station. He explained the situation and stressed how serious the offense was. He urged farmers not to trust these agents and warned them to stay away from illegal deals.
“There is no permission to bring rice from other states into Telangana,” said the DSP. He reminded the public that the government has set up a special check post at the border to stop such activities.
He also made it clear that anyone caught smuggling grain would face strict legal action.
This crackdown sends a strong message: Telangana is serious about protecting its farmers and stopping illegal grain trade.
