Hyderabad – Obedullah Kotwal, Chairman of the Telangana Minorities Finance Corporation (TGMFC), accused the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of spreading lies about the Congress-led state government. He said both parties are unable to accept the current political reality in Telangana.
Addressing the media at Gandhi Bhavan, Kotwal, joined by Congress spokesperson Zahir Akhtar and other leaders, defended Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. He criticized the opposition for making baseless remarks and trying to block the state’s progress.
“The BRS and BJP are running campaigns filled with false claims. They are trying to tarnish the image of the Congress government,” Kotwal said. “What gives K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) the right to demand the Chief Minister’s resignation? Revanth Reddy was chosen by the people.”
He questioned the BJP’s contribution to the state. “Bandi Sanjay should explain what kind of support the BJP-led Centre has given to Telangana. What’s the use of having 8 BJP MPs and 8 MLAs if they can’t secure funds for the state?” Kotwal asked.
He also accused the opposition of encouraging state employees to strike. “The BRS and BJP are provoking unrest. Former CM K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), KTR, and Eatala Rajender played a role in driving Telangana into a financial crisis,” he said. “BJP silently backed BRS for nearly 10 years. During that time, the BRS ignored the Minority Finance Corporation.”
In contrast, Kotwal praised the current government. “CM Revanth Reddy has already allocated ₹250 crore to support the Minority Finance Corporation. That’s a clear sign of commitment,” he added.
Zahir Akhtar pointed out how things have improved since Congress took power. “Under KCR, employees received their salaries after the 15th of every month. Now, they’re getting paid on the 1st, thanks to Revanth Reddy’s leadership,” he said.
He also criticized KCR’s handling of water-sharing issues between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, saying KCR allowed AP to dominate the region’s rightful share.
“People rejected KTR in the last elections. Revanth Reddy earned the trust of the public and became CM. The government will continue to support employees as the financial situation improves,” Akhtar concluded.
