Hyderabad: Leaders from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) have raised serious concerns about the misuse of the HYDRA name and the official government emblem on social media. On Tuesday, they filed a formal complaint with HYDRA Commissioner AV Ranganath, urging action against those responsible.
A group of BRS leaders visited the Commissioner’s office to report a fake social media account that closely mimics HYDRA’s official presence. The suspicious Twitter handle @HYDRAA_TG has been sharing politically biased content while falsely appearing to be a government account. The BRS delegation noted that the profile used the official emblem without permission, misleading the public.
When questioned, the handle quickly altered its profile bio, which only deepened doubts about its legitimacy. According to the BRS, the same group is also running WhatsApp channels, Instagram profiles, and YouTube accounts under similar branding, all pretending to be official HYDRA platforms.
The leaders pointed out a phone number, 9992221948, linked to these accounts. When checked on Truecaller, it shows the name “HYDRAA Telangana.” This number was found actively sharing HYDRA-styled messages and videos in various WhatsApp groups.
They expressed frustration that no visible steps have been taken so far to stop these unauthorized actions. BRS leaders warned that a law enforcement body like HYDRA must remain neutral and follow legal standards. They also referred to recent claims by Congress MLAs, who alleged that the HYDRA name was being misused to carry out extortion.
According to BRS representatives, many posts from these fake accounts include offensive and politically loaded language that clearly supports one particular party. They stressed that such behavior damages public trust and misleads citizens.
The delegation demanded that HYDRA immediately register criminal cases against those behind these fake social media handles. They called for action under relevant legal sections for impersonation, misuse of government symbols, and spreading misinformation.
BRS leaders Ashish Kumar Yadav, Abhilash Rangineni, and Goverdhan Reddy were part of the team that submitted the complaint.
