Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who also oversees the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) portfolio, has approved the construction of a skywalk along the Raidurg–T-Hub stretch in Cyberabad. The project is designed to enhance pedestrian safety, improve walkability, and address the growing traffic congestion in one of Hyderabad’s busiest IT corridors.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner M. Ramesh conducted a field inspection of the proposed alignment yesterday, accompanied by senior police and traffic officials. The inspection focused on identifying pedestrian risk zones and traffic congestion points along the high-density corridor, which witnesses heavy footfall from Metro commuters, office-goers, and visitors to commercial hubs.
The proposed skywalk alignment will run from Raidurg Metro Station, passing through the IKEA flyover and IOCL junction, and extending up to T-Hub. This route covers some of the most congested areas in the IT corridor, where pedestrian movement has become increasingly challenging due to vehicular traffic.
The project envisages creating a continuous and safe pedestrian network through skywalks and tunnels while simultaneously easing vehicular movement along the stretch. Authorities estimate that the initiative could reduce traffic congestion by nearly 30% along the corridor, providing significant relief to daily commuters and residents.
The proposal is being developed with support from the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) in coordination with multiple private stakeholders. This collaborative approach aims to ensure efficient implementation and maintenance of the infrastructure, leveraging both public and private sector expertise.
Phase I of the project includes the construction of a 500-metre-long skywalk, which will serve as the initial segment of the pedestrian network. This phase is expected to set the foundation for further expansion of pedestrian-friendly infrastructure in the area.
Plans are also underway for a 400-metre-long underpass connecting T-Hub with Mindspace C-Gate to improve last-mile connectivity. This underpass will complement the skywalk system, providing pedestrians with multiple safe options to navigate the busy IT corridor without having to cross roads at street level.
The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to developing world-class pedestrian infrastructure in Hyderabad’s commercial zones. The project is expected to benefit thousands of daily commuters who work in the IT companies, visit commercial establishments, and use the Metro services along this stretch.
