Film actor Rana Daggubati was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Hyderabad about his involvement in promoting illegal betting apps. He provided his bank statements to support his claim that he did not gain financially from these promotions.
Rana was interrogated for over four hours. The ED sought clarification on accusations that he received large sums for endorsing these apps. The Cyberabad Police have filed a case against Rana, Vijay Devarakonda, Prakash Raj, and others, alleging they promoted betting apps through social media ads.
The ED registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) against 29 people, including actors and influencers, for promoting illegal betting apps, violating the Public Gambling Act, 1867. This action followed a complaint from PM Phanindra Sarma, a businessman from Miyapur.
The case involves provisions from various acts, including the TS Gaming Act and IT Act. The ED has already questioned Devarakonda and Prakash Raj. Rana arrived with his lawyer and submitted documents for the investigation. The ED will review these to determine any financial gains related to the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
