Hyderabad: IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu said that the State government will follow the Supreme Court’s orders in the Kancha Gachibowli land case. He stated that the land in question belongs to the State government, as confirmed in earlier remarks by the Supreme Court.
Speaking informally with reporters at Gandhi Bhavan on Wednesday, the Minister explained that the land dispute worsened due to fake videos and AI-generated images shared widely on social media. He said this misinformation campaign had a strong impact and was used as a tool by the opposition to mislead the public. He warned that those spreading false news would face legal action. This comes after IAS officer Smita Sabharwal received a police notice for sharing a fake post. The Minister stressed that the law would apply equally to everyone.
Sridhar Babu also accused the BRS and BJP of working together to spread false information and weaken the Congress-led State government. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had been misled by state BJP leaders about the University of Hyderabad (HCU) land issue. He echoed Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s view that the opposition is trying to create confusion and unrest, but assured that the Congress government remains strong and continues to have public support.
According to the Minister, despite several efforts by the BRS to destabilize the government, the administration has stayed firm and will continue to do so. He claimed that fake videos and posts about the HCU lands were intentionally circulated. He also alleged that some Union Ministers had shared these videos online and later deleted them.
Finally, Sridhar Babu said that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed a chargesheet against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi with political motives. He insisted that there was no financial wrongdoing in the National Herald case and questioned why a respected family like the Gandhis would be involved in money laundering.
