A low pressure area has developed in the northern and central Bay of Bengal. Forecasts suggest it will become a depression by Friday evening. This weather system is likely to move west, crossing the coast of South Odisha and North Andhra, causing widespread rain in the Telugu states.
The Amaravati Meteorological Centre and the Visakhapatnam Cyclone Warning Centre have issued warnings for a possible cyclone. They predict heavy to very heavy rainfall in various parts of Andhra Pradesh today and tomorrow.
The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Agency has alerted the public about possible strong winds, reaching 40 to 60 km/h along the coast. People are advised to stay indoors unless necessary. Heavy rain is expected in Eluru, Krishna, NTR, Guntur, and parts of Bapatla, Palnadu, and Prakasam today. Moderate to heavy rain might also affect isolated areas in Uttar Andhra, Ubhaya Godavari, Nellore, Kurnool, and Nandyal districts. Fishermen are urged to avoid sea activities until Monday.
In Telangana, the low pressure is likely to bring heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning in several districts today and tomorrow. Winds could reach speeds of 40 to 60 km/h. An orange alert is issued for Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagar Kurnool, and Wanaparthy. A yellow alert is in place for Adilabad, Komaram Bheem, Mancherial, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Hanumakonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Ranga Reddy, as well as Hyderabad and Medchal Malkaj Giri.
Telangana is expected to experience scattered rain across all districts for the next four days. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
