Hyderabad will not have any issues with drinking water supply this year, according to Sudarshan Reddy, the managing director of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB). The city and Outer Ring Road areas have enough water available to meet their needs, with 565 million gallons of water being supplied daily. An additional 15 to 20 MGD of water may be required, but alternative arrangements will be made.
At a recent review meeting, HMWSSB officials were instructed to assess the performance of borewells within their jurisdiction and carry out repairs as needed under the Annual Maintenance System. Three new filling stations will be set up in addition to the current 70 stations, and the number of tankers and trips will be increased as needed. Steps are being taken to prevent sewage overflow on roads during the summer, and plans are being made to address any issues with contaminated water supply.
The completion of Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) is in progress, with a focus on ensuring an adequate water supply to mosques through tankers during the upcoming Ramzan month. Any problems or leaks should be addressed promptly, especially in areas with special needs. CC cameras have been installed at all filling stations and connected to headquarters to monitor operations effectively.
