Hyderabad Records Coldest Morning in 7 Years at 6.3°C Temperature

Hyderabad woke up to its coldest morning in seven years on Thursday, with several areas recording single-digit temperatures. The University of Hyderabad campus in Serlingampally recorded the lowest temperature at 6.3°C, marking a significant drop in mercury levels across the city.

The sharp dip in temperature was observed across various parts of the city, with several localities experiencing unusually cold conditions. Moula Ali recorded 7.1°C, while Rajendranagar saw temperatures fall to 7.7°C.

Other areas that experienced single-digit temperatures included Sivarampalle at 8.8°C, Alwal at 9.0°C, and Gachibowli at 9.1°C. The industrial area of Macha Bollaram recorded 9.3°C, while West Maredpally saw temperatures at 10.1°C.

The cold wave extended to several prominent localities across the city. Qutbullapur recorded 10.2°C, Bahadurpura saw 10.9°C, and Jeedimetla registered 11.0°C. The weather station at Begumpet recorded 11.1°C, while both BHEL and Neredmet saw temperatures at 11.2°C.

The industrial hub of Patancheru recorded 11.4°C, while several central areas including Bowenpally, Mehdipatnam, Nagole, Asifnagar, Charminar, Karwan, and LB Stadium all recorded identical temperatures of 11.6°C.

Malkajgiri and Shaikpet both registered 11.7°C, while Secunderabad saw temperatures at 12.1°C. The upscale locality of Jubilee Hills recorded 12.2°C, Hayathnagar saw 12.6°C, and Musheerabad registered 12.7°C. Attapur was relatively warmer at 13°C.

The outskirts of the city experienced even more severe cold conditions. Moinabad recorded the lowest temperature in the region at 5.4°C, while Ibrahimpatnam saw temperatures drop to 6.3°C, matching the reading at the University of Hyderabad campus.

The sudden drop in temperatures has caught many residents off guard, with morning commuters experiencing chilly conditions. The cold wave has prompted residents to pull out winter clothing and use heaters to combat the unusual cold.

The last time Hyderabad experienced such low temperatures was seven years ago, making this cold spell particularly noteworthy for the city. The significant temperature drop has been attributed to clear skies and dry weather conditions prevailing over the region.

The cold conditions are expected to affect daily life across the city, particularly during early morning and late evening hours. Residents have been advised to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the cold, especially vulnerable groups such as children and elderly citizens.

The temperature readings were recorded by various weather monitoring stations spread across the city and its outskirts, providing a comprehensive picture of the cold wave affecting the region.
