HYDRA officials have successfully protected two parks covering a total area of 5,797 square yards in Ameenpur Mandal, Sangareddy District, following complaints from local residents about potential encroachment. The parks, valued at approximately Rs 47 crore, were secured with fencing and signboards on Thursday after field-level inspections confirmed their designated status.
The protected parks are located within Sri Venkataramana Colony, a layout spanning 15 acres with 144 plots established in survey numbers 152 and 153. The layout was originally developed by Favorlal, who served as the managing trustee for Munoth Private Trust. The entire layout had received approval from HUDA (Hyderabad Urban Development Authority).
In 2012, Mahakumar Jain took over the responsibilities and subsequently sold 7 acres of the layout, designating the land as agricultural property. This transaction created controversy among residents and led to ongoing legal proceedings. The dispute regarding these 7 acres is currently pending in court, with no resolution in sight.
Representatives from the Venkataramana Colony Welfare Association approached HYDRA through Praja Vani with serious concerns about the remaining 8 acres of the layout. They reported that two parks within this area, measuring 4,960 square yards and 837 square yards respectively, were at risk of encroachment. The residents submitted a formal petition requesting immediate protection of these community spaces.
HYDRA Commissioner Sri AV Ranganath responded promptly to the complaint by ordering a comprehensive field-level inspection. HYDRA officials coordinated with relevant departments to conduct a thorough survey of the disputed areas. The inspection team verified the park boundaries according to the original HUDA-approved layout documents.
Following the verification process, HYDRA officials took immediate action to secure the parks. They erected protective fencing around both park areas to prevent any unauthorized construction or encroachment attempts. The team also installed official HYDRA boards at the sites, clearly marking them as designated park spaces for public use.
The protection of these parks represents a significant victory for local residents who have been fighting to preserve community spaces in their colony. The two parks together constitute important green spaces in the developing area, providing recreational facilities for families and children in the neighborhood.
Village officials in Ameenpur Mandal worked alongside HYDRA to ensure the successful protection of the parks. The collaborative effort between local administration and HYDRA demonstrates the government’s commitment to safeguarding public amenities against illegal encroachment activities. The estimated market value of the protected park lands stands at around Rs 47 crore, according to official assessments.
