Telangana is bracing for a major heatwave starting today, with several districts expected to experience extreme temperatures ranging between 42-45°C over the next seven days. Weather authorities have issued warnings for residents across the state as mercury levels are set to climb significantly. The districts of Adilabad, Asifabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagitial, Mancherial, Karimnagar, Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Nalgonda, Suryapet, and Gadwal are likely to bear the brunt of the scorching heat, with temperatures reaching dangerously high levels.
The state capital Hyderabad will also face severe heat conditions, with temperatures expected to hover between 40-42°C continuously for the next seven days. Residents of the city are advised to take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related health issues. Meanwhile, other districts across Telangana will experience temperatures in the range of 41-43°C, making outdoor activities particularly challenging during peak afternoon hours.
Health and weather officials are urging people to stay alert and take preventive measures to protect themselves from the intense heat. Citizens are specifically requested to avoid afternoon travel and outdoor activities between 12 PM and 4 PM when the sun’s intensity is at its peak. Authorities recommend staying hydrated, wearing light-colored and loose-fitting clothes, and using umbrellas or hats when venturing outdoors.
The heatwave warning comes as summer temperatures continue to rise across the state. Vulnerable groups including children, elderly persons, and those with pre-existing medical conditions are particularly at risk during extreme heat conditions. Residents are advised to keep emergency contact numbers handy and seek immediate medical attention if they experience symptoms of heat stroke such as dizziness, nausea, or excessive fatigue.
