Hyderabad: Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy announced that a draft law to replace the Dharani portal has been released for public feedback. This draft is available on the CCLA website starting Friday, and the Minister is inviting people to provide their valuable suggestions on the new law.
The Minister made these comments during a discussion on ‘Telangana Land Rights and Reforms’. He mentioned that from today onwards, public suggestions will be collected for three weeks. People can also visit the CCLA office at Nampally station road to provide their input. The draft law was developed after touring 18 states and fixing various issues. For applications pending in the Dharani system, the power to resolve them will now be given to MROs, RDOs, and Additional Collectors.
Srinivas Reddy indirectly referenced the former Chief Minister and Chief Secretary, alleging that they created the Dharani system through deceit. He claimed that the system had deceived people and did not benefit them as promised. He also mentioned that Dharani was implemented without consulting all sections of society.
The Minister further alleged that land records of 2.5 crore properties were mortgaged to a Singapore company involved with Dharani. He criticized the elimination of the ‘Sada Bainama’ provision after Dharani was introduced and noted that many people supported the idea of discarding Dharani altogether.
Additionally, Srinivas Reddy highlighted the government’s efforts to address the backlog of pending applications. Initially, 2.45 lakh applications were pending, which was reduced to 1.19 lakh before the Parliament elections. Currently, 1.18 lakh applications remain pending. As part of a pilot project in Yacharam Mandal, Rangareddy District, 2,300 applications for corrections were identified. Similarly, two senior officials were appointed in Nagarjunsagar to review applications, and their report is awaited.
