Nagar Kurnool: On the occasion of Shani Trayodashi, which occurred just before the new moon day in the month of Sravana, a large number of devotees visited the Sri Saradasapta Jeshta Mata Sameta Shanishwara Swamy Temple. This temple is located in Nandi Vaddeman village, under Bijnapally Mandal.
The devotees participated in a special ritual called Tila Abhishekam, where they anointed the deity with sesame oil. The temple’s head priest, Dr. Gavamatham Vishwanatha Shastri, explained that this temple is very old, dating back to the era of Gona Buddha Reddy and Goneganna Reddy. Many people believe that worshipping Shani Dev at this ancient temple brings great spiritual benefits.
Shastri emphasized that Shani Dev is currently the ruler of the Navagrahas (nine celestial bodies) in this Krodhinama year. He mentioned that those who perform special rituals for Shani Dev during this time are likely to receive his blessings quickly. Shani Trayodashi, combined with the day of Pushyami Nakshatra, is considered particularly lucky.
Devotees from different regions came to the temple to offer sesame oil and items like Jammi leaves and flowers as part of the Tila Tyla Abhishekam rituals. Shastri advised that people facing challenges due to Shani’s influence in their astrological charts could worship the deity to reduce these difficulties.
Additionally, on the same day, grand Rudrabhishekam rituals dedicated to Lord Shiva were also performed at the ancient Nandi Swamy Temple. Shastri mentioned that even those who do not know their exact birth charts can still benefit from offering prayers to Nandi Swamy and Lord Shiva on Trayodashi for divine blessings.
The temple made special arrangements for the devotees, providing holy offerings, water facilities, and free food (annaprasadam). Temple chairman V. Gopal Rao, along with committee members Veerashekar, Prabhakar Chari, Pullayya, and priests Gavamatham Shanti Kumar, Umamaheshwar, and Jayant, all participated in the grand celebrations along with various devotees.
