Gadwal: Students from the Government Junior College in Ajija town protested today by skipping classes. They want a Government Degree College set up in their area. This protest arose because governments have long delayed meeting this demand from the locals.

Ramachandra Reddy, a former BJP District President, showed his support at the protest. He criticized both past and present state governments for not establishing the college. He highlighted that despite many efforts by the public, like roadblocks and petitions, their demand has been ignored.

Reddy mentioned that during the May 11, 2024, Lok Sabha elections, Telangana State Deputy Chief Minister Sri Bhatti Vikramarka promised the people of Ajija town a Government Degree College and a Government Girls Junior College, provided Dr. Mallu Ravi from the Congress Party won the MP seat.

“Dr. Mallu Ravi is now the MP,” Reddy noted, “yet the promise remains unfulfilled.” He stressed that the lack of local higher education forces students, especially young girls, to travel far, leading to dropouts and early marriages, which affects their future.

Reddy called on the state government to honor the election promise made by the Deputy Chief Minister. He insisted that Ajija’s youth deserve nearby higher education options and warned that ignoring this could lead to larger protests from students and residents.

Several BJP leaders attended, including Bhagat Reddy (Ajija Town BJP President), Gopalakrishna (Mandal BJP President), Pradeep Kumar (District Council Member), Bellankonda Nagaraju (Town Vice-President), Veeresh Goud, Rajasekhar, Mahesh, and T. Narasimhulu.

This protest highlights the ongoing effort by Ajija residents to gain essential educational facilities, a right they believe should be granted without further delay.
