Mahabubnagar | July 29, 2025: Farmers in Mahabubnagar district face a major urea shortage, causing panic. Many stand in long lines under the hot sun, hoping to get some fertilizer. This issue is severe in villages like Kaverammapeta of Jadcherla mandal, where farmers gather early outside Grow More Centers.
During this crucial farming season, most government and private fertilizer shops show “No Stock” signs, worsening the farmers’ worries. A few centers received limited supplies, leading the local agriculture department to allow just two bags of urea per farmer, verified with Aadhaar cards.
Farmers criticize this limit. “Two bags are enough for 1–2 acres, but not for those with 5 acres or more. This rule is unfair,” said Ramesh, a farmer from Nagaram village.
Across the area, frustration grows. Farmers spend hours in lines, often returning home without enough fertilizer. “We are poor farmers. We can’t lose entire days like this. This situation is new to us,” said Srinu, a farmer from Bandamidipally village.
He added, “The government must act quickly. Without timely urea, our crops will die, wasting our season’s efforts.”
Local agriculture officials admit there is a shortage due to late shipments and increased cultivation demand this year. They promise more supplies will arrive soon.
Yet, for many worried farmers in Mahabubnagar, each day without urea feels urgent, as timely fertilizer use ensures good crop yields.
Farmers now call for an immediate and ample urea supply, lifting of supply limits, and easier distribution without bureaucratic delays.
