Hyderabad experienced heavy rain on Sunday, causing major traffic jams and disrupting daily life. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in Hyderabad issued an orange alert, predicting moderate to heavy rain over the next two days, with cooler mornings and evenings.
The city and nearby areas faced severe rainfall, leading to significant traffic congestion in places like Gachibowli, Hitec City, Miyapur, Sanathnagar, and Kondapur. Roads and low-lying areas were flooded, leaving many people stranded. Two individuals went missing in a nala at Asifnagar, and search efforts are ongoing.
Continuous heavy rains also affected Uppal, Kapra, Marredpally, Alwal, and Quthbullapur. Prashant Nagar, Malkajgiri recorded the highest rainfall in the city at 16 cm.
Telangana Development Planning Society data showed Vivekanandapuram Community Hall (Neredmet) received 50 mm of rain, Bandlaguda (Uppal) 47.5 mm, Mallpura ward office (Uppal) 42 mm, Kapra 37 mm, and Medpally 35 mm. Other areas like Saroornagar, Musheerabad, and Himayathnagar also saw rainfall. Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi and officials inspected rain-affected areas, including Road 12, Banjara Hills. They emphasized addressing waterlogging to prevent further traffic issues.

The IMD Hyderabad also forecasts heavy rain in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, and Narayanpet on Monday.
