Hyderabad: The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH) and the Central Sanskrit University (CSU) in New Delhi have formed a new partnership. They signed an agreement to work together in areas like Sanskrit, Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), and technology-driven research.
This collaboration brings together IITH, known for its innovative research, and CSU, which focuses on preserving and enhancing Sanskrit and traditional Indian knowledge. Their joint efforts will cover fields such as linguistics, computational Sanskrit, Vedic sciences, and philosophy. They plan to engage in academic exchanges, allowing faculty, researchers, and students to learn from each other and collaborate on research projects.
The institutes will also host joint events like workshops, conferences, and lecture series. Additionally, they will share access to academic resources, libraries, and manuscript collections. Together, they aim to create interdisciplinary research projects that blend traditional wisdom with modern technology. There will be regular sharing of academic publications and research findings to improve educational and research quality.
Prof B S Murty, Director of IIT Hyderabad, expressed excitement about the collaboration. He emphasized the opportunity to combine Indian Knowledge Systems with the innovative atmosphere at IITH. The partnership aims to explore new research dimensions by integrating traditional wisdom with modern science.
Prof Shrinivasa Varakhedi, Vice Chancellor of CSU, highlighted the importance of the agreement. He described it as a historic step in reviving India’s knowledge traditions. For him, Sanskrit is more than just a language; it is a treasure trove of scientific and philosophical insights and a key part of India’s cultural heritage.
