Hyderabad: On Saturday, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy criticized Union Minister G Kishan Reddy for not contributing to Hyderabad’s development. He also questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s efforts in the city.
Before Union Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Hyderabad, Revanth Reddy stated the state would request support for Metro expansion, Regional Ring Road (RRR), and Musi Riverfront projects.
While opening the 1.2-km PJR flyover in Gachibowli, which cost Rs 182.72 crore, Revanth Reddy expressed disappointment that none of the eight BJP MPs from Telangana secured central funds for the state’s projects.
He challenged Kishan Reddy to show what he had brought from Modi. Revanth noted that Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, led by opposition parties, received Metro projects. He mentioned Andhra Pradesh‘s benefits and the Rs two lakh crore bullet train in Gujarat. Central funds supported Sabarmati Riverfront in Gujarat, Yamuna Riverfront in Delhi, and Ganga Riverfront in Uttar Pradesh. He questioned the neglect of Musi Riverfront, Metro Rail, and RRR projects in Telangana.
Revanth Reddy asked if the BJP considered Telangana’s demands illegitimate or if there were issues with the state’s proposals. On Kancha Gachibowli lands, he reiterated the state’s commitment to development and vowed to pursue a legal battle until resolved.
He highlighted the division of Telangana into Core Urban Region, Semi Urban Region, and Rural Telangana. He pointed out pollution issues in Delhi, flooding in Chennai, and traffic in Bangalore, suggesting they learn from cities like Mumbai, Chennai, and Bangalore.
He criticized political obstructions to government programs. Despite obstacles, the government aimed to attract IT companies to Gachibowli, creating jobs for many. He assured a legal fight over Gachibowli lands to provide employment.
Reminding of Congress leader P Janardhan Reddy‘s contributions, Revanth Reddy directed officials to study the feasibility of a statue near Gachibowli, akin to Manmohan Singh’s statue in the Financial District.
Discussing delimitation, he suggested dividing constituencies like Serilingampally into four segments. He urged local MLA Arikepudi Gandhi to secure Congress victories in these areas, similar to PJR’s successes when Khairatabad was divided.
Addressing pollution, the government promotes Electric Vehicles (EV) with tax exemptions. Revanth cited N-Convention Centre, where actor Nagarjuna donated two acres for city development, crediting HYDRAA for this success.
He also mentioned the removal of encroachments at Bathukamma Kunta, allowing the celebration of Bathukamma on reclaimed land.
