Hyderabad: Minister Seethakka shared that Women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs) have earned Rs 1 crore by renting out RTC buses. She discussed this during a meeting at the Secretariat. 150 buses have been rented to the RTC by these groups. The RTC pays Rs 70,000 per month for each bus, and the total earnings have reached Rs 1 crore.
The first payment from the RTC to the women’s groups was made on Thursday. Minister Seethakka also talked about plans to improve Anganwadi centers. She aims to work with women’s groups and voluntary organizations to boost child nutrition. The meeting covered topics like strengthening Anganwadi centers, enhancing nutrition programs, filling job vacancies, and involving SHGs in Anganwadi services. The Minister instructed officials to move Anganwadi centers in poor condition to nearby government offices.
She asked officials to find locations for new Anganwadi buildings, coordinating with District Collectors. To fight malnutrition in Anganwadi children, the Minister called for specific actions and a system to track children’s nutritional progress. A special 100-day campaign will be held to inform parents about their children’s food to help reduce childhood malnutrition.
