Hyderabad is getting ready for the upcoming monsoon season, and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is taking action to prevent flooding in key areas.
GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan visited several parts of the Secunderabad zone to inspect known waterlogging spots. He focused on areas near Prakash Nagar IOC Bank and the Hyderabad Public School, where flooding has been a concern in the past. He instructed officials to begin desilting drains immediately to avoid water buildup during heavy rains.
Officials were also told to submit a full report within a week. This report must include field data, GIS information, and property tax sketches to better understand the situation and plan solutions.
On the same day, Commissioner Karnan checked on several major infrastructure projects around the city.
At Tarnaka Junction, he reviewed work on island development and efforts to add more green spaces. In Chilkalguda, he inspected the proposed site for the H-CITI Railway Under Bridge (RUB). He issued a firm warning to contractors C and D for starting work without proper permissions and said they would face penalties.
He then visited the H-CITI road project near the AOC center, followed by a review of the Rasoolpura flyover alignment and the nearby ISW land that may be affected.
At Patigadda, the Commissioner examined the ROB H-CITI flyover plans, focusing on ongoing construction and proposals to widen the road in that area.
With monsoon rains approaching, the GHMC is pushing forward with urgent infrastructure checks and cleanup efforts to reduce flooding and improve city roads.
