Hyderabad: On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Union Ministers and senior BJP leaders, participated in the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative for World Environment Day.
On Telugu social media, Modi shared a moment from his recent Gujarat visit where brave mothers from Kutch gifted him a Sindoora sapling. He expressed his honor in planting this sapling at his residence in New Delhi, symbolizing the bravery and spirit of India’s Nari Shakti.
Union Minister G Kishan Reddy celebrated World Environment Day by planting saplings at his residence in Delhi. He was joined by top-performing students from Khammam district who excelled in their Class X exams. Reddy congratulated them, encouraged their future aspirations, and highlighted the importance of environmental conservation. He urged everyone to plant trees, reduce carbon emissions, and limit plastic use. He shared a photo of a sapling he planted a year ago, emphasizing that the initiative is about nurturing trees and reconnecting with nature.
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, advocated for sapling planting as a crucial method to fight climate change and protect future generations. He encouraged all Indians to plant a sapling in their mother’s name as a commitment to the environment. In Jantar Mantar, he and his staff planted trees to mark the occasion.
Kumar emphasized the importance of viewing sapling planting as a social responsibility. He called for the conservation of biodiversity and green spaces, urging every government worker and citizen to plant a tree in their mother’s honor under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” slogan.
He concluded by highlighting that environmental protection starts at home, and planting trees as a tribute to a mother’s care serves as a meaningful gesture.
